WE ASKED YOU (OUR AUDIENCE) TO HELP US PAY FOR OUR NEW GRAND PIANO - AND YOU'VE DONE IT!
We were offered an extra-special purchase deal on a new grand piano in Nov 07 - but we didn't have enough cash to pay for it.
A fundraising campaign was launched in mid-Nov 07 to raise the shortfall of £5,000. We started a scheme to 'sell' individual piano keys for £50 each, as well as asking for cash donations and staging fundraising gigs. WE MADE IT! All 88 piano keys are 'sold' - we hit our target in just 10 weeks.
The level of support has been absolutely tremendous and we sincerely thank everyone who has made any form of contribution. There's a framed wall poster displayed in the bar's entrance, showing all key sponsors on a map of the keyboard. If you've bought a key, don't be shy to demand that the pianist plays it a lot during his solos, then you can shout 'Hey listen, that's MY Bflat!'
