Fringe Festival Information

WE’RE HERE ALL YEAR

Welcome to Edinburgh’s famed, multi-award-winning venue for world-class music! We stage multiple gigs every day of the year (the only day we close is Christmas!), featuring live jazz, blues, funk, soul, roots and more, within a cosy speakeasy-style basement bar.

FRINGE SHOWS

Fringe performers come from all over the world to perform their independent shows with us throughout August. All of the Fringe shows we host are listed in this exclusive programme, on our website (www.thejazzbar.co.uk) and on the official Fringe website and printed programmes. Tickets can be purchased from the Fringe Box Office on the Royal Mile, or online from the Fringe website (www.tickets.edfringe.com). Tickets purchased online must be held in print form for entry and can be printed from the Fringe Box Office or any Fringe ‘collection point’ venue such as ‘C’ Venue which is right next door to The Jazz Bar. Please be aware that the venue is only partially seated and seating is unreserved. Advance tickets do not guarantee seating. Be at the front of the queue 30 minutes before show opens for best seats. Doors open 15 minutes before show time. PLEASE NOTE: The venue does NOT take bookings, reserve seating, nor sell or print advance tickets.

‘JAZZ BAR MUSIC’

As well as hosting independent Fringe shows, we stage our own programme of special-feature jazz and late-night funk using our roster of truly outstanding local musicians and Jazz Bar residents. These shows are listed in the official Fringe programme under the umbrella title of ‘Jazz Bar Music’. Full details are listed in this programme as well as on our website at www.thejazzbar.co.uk.

CHILDREN & YOUNG ADULTS

Under the terms of our licence we are obliged to observe City Council Regulations. Each show has an age limit shown. Please check age restrictions before purchasing tickets for youngsters.

ACCESS

The venue is in the basement of an old c1860 building, with access by two flights of stairs down. Unfortunately, the building layout and age does not allow us the space necessary to create disabled access or facilities. Under City of Edinburgh Council regulations, we are obliged to notify that any wheelchair users who wish to enter will have to be aided or carried down and up the stairs by their own assistants, who must remain with them at all times while inside the premises, in case of emergency evacuation. Please also be aware that there are two steps in the bar area, between the stairs & toilets and the bar itself. We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience. For individual access inquiries please contact info@thejazzbar.co.uk so that we may best be able to cater to your needs and make your visit with us as smooth, comfortable, and most of all, enjoyable as possible.

DRESS

Dress is smart/casual. No tracksuit bottoms. No flip-flop footwear due to the possibility of broken glass on the floor.
