Asazi Space Funk Explosion fuse Afro-funk, dub, and cosmic grooves into an electrifying live experience. Formed in a darkened Camden basement in 2003 by South African vocalist/percussionist Kholeho “Asazi” Mosala and UK multi-instrumentalist Alex Marten, the band earned an early cult following for their fearless, high-energy sound.

Acoustic Teatime with Jacob Khalil

Jacob Khalil is a New York City-based singer, pianist, and songwriter known for his uplifting original songs and “a voice that soothes the soul” (FOX 5 NY). Described by The New Yorker as “affable and sunny,” Jacob blends jazz influences with a fresh modern sensibility, drawing comparisons to John Legend and Harry Connick Jr. He’s performed on Saturday Night Live with Sam Smith and headlined sold-out shows at Birdland.

Jacob’s new EP Jacob Khalil Band Vol. 1 drops this fall, followed by a U.S. tour.

This is our first performance at the Jazz Bar this academic year, playing tunes ranging from classic jazz standards to modern funk and everything in between. Clarissa is a well-established recording artist and session singer deeply rooted in jazz, soul, pop, and R&B. With an impressive range, tight dynamic control, and a sultry tone, she pours her heart, soul, and energy into every performance, whether rocking a stadium or smouldering away in a jazz club.

She has also worked as a backing vocalist for artists such as Laura Mvula, Olly Murs and John Legend, to name a few, and performed for some of the world’s most glamorous clients.

Bring your little ones to our Interactive Live Jazz Show! This isn’t just music—it’s a full-blown adventure into the world of early jazz, designed especially for younger audiences. It takes them right into the heart of the band, experiencing the magic of live acoustic instruments through music, dancing, fun, and play!

And parents, we’ve got you covered too! With our fully licensed bar, you can sip on your favourite cocktail, enjoy a cold beer, or unwind with a glass of wine while the kids groove to the tunes. We also have an impressive non-alcoholic beer selection.

But that’s not all—there’s a 30-minute disco after the show for anyone still needing to party and burn off even more energy!

Lorne Lofsky is literally a living legend, having toured and recorded with Oscar Peterson, Joey DeFrancesco and…wait for it…Chet Baker!

He’s also perhaps more widely known in guitar circles as working and recording with the great Ed Bickert (guitarist with Paul Desmond).

Nigel Price is one of the most highly regarded and in demand guitarists on the UK jazz scene today.

He spent three years with UK funk legends – the James Taylor Quartet, was voted No.1 in the 2016 British Jazz Awards for “best guitarist” and is also a regular performer at Ronnie Scott’s, where he’s played around 600 times.

Joel Barford is the hottest drummer on the scene right now. Despite his young age, his boundless energy and startling prowess has already been thrilling audiences up and down the country and around the World.

Completing the quartet is double bassist Jeremy Brown, who is definitely the first call for visiting international stars, and this means his CV is absolutely stunning. Rightly so. He always has a cool head under pressure.

Nathan Somevi

Nathan Somevi, a Ghanaian-born British musician, honed his musical talents in the vibrant atmosphere of church performances during his upbringing. Inspired by his roots, he embarked on a musical journey enriched by diverse influences. Among his inspirations, the innovative guitar stylings of Charlie Hunter have left an indelible mark on Somevi’s sound, particularly his use of hybrid guitars blending bass and guitar elements, contributing to the captivating essence of his musical projects.

In 2020, Somevi released his EP “Can’t Be Done,” a testament to his evolving artistry. Following this success, he continued to push boundaries, releasing “Brave” in 2023, further solidifying his position as a versatile and dynamic artist.

Williams is the icon of film music scores today; well known for his signature tunes to many blockbusters. Katet are an 8-piece soul/jazz/funk band who deliver pounding grooves and thick funky horn riffs, but leader, Mike Kearney has always been able to elevate through his musicianly songwriting and arranging. His recent success in re-calibrating Stevie Wonder tunes won many admirers, and here he is in the unlikely world of film music. Dick Lee’s Hot Club Hepcats

Dick Lee has been playing all sorts of music with all sorts of groups in all sorts of places for the last 50 years. His latest band is a Hot Club style swing jazz quintet featuring some of Scotland’s finest young jazz performers.

Dick plays clarinet, bass clarinet, soprano sax and recorder, and the band features the dynamic guitars of Ronan Toal and Iain McNally, the tasty reeds of Martin Foster and the springy bass of Steven Jack.

The Hepcats play great swing jazz classics from the likes of Benny Goodman, Django Reinhardt, Duke Ellington et al. and some nice wee tunes by Dick 🙂

Warning, could lead to dancing 🙂

FOUR trumpets, FOUR trombones, FIVE saxes and FOUR rhythm! It’s a variable line-up of top-class pro players, who travel in from around Scotland to participate in this outstanding gig. Nowhere else can you hear this standard of regular Big Band playing. Led by saxophonist Keith Edwards, the personnel changes weekly, as does their selection of fantastic arrangements.

Cumbiatones is a Psychedelic Cumbia band based in Edinburgh (Scotland). Formed in 2021, Cumbiatones combines tradicional Cumbia rythms from Peru, Argentina and Colombia with rock music psychedelic sounds and energetic riffs that will get the crowd dancing non stop.🕺💃

Iain Ewing and The Chevaliers – Sunday Night Swing

West Coast singer Iain Ewing has performed throughout the UK for many years. Highlights include appearances at The London Palladium, His Majesty’s Theatre, Edinburgh Festival Theatre and every major Jazz festival in Scotland. He is no stranger to The Jazz Bar having performed his sell out “Remembering Chet” show at The Fringe a number of times.
With his band, The Chevaliers, you are guaranteed a night of top class swing and jazz.

They are a huge favourite among the Edinburgh swing dance community and feature Jazz Bar stalwarts:
