An Intimate and listening gig featuring early swing and standards start our Friday Jazz offerings, this week featuring Paul Paterson with his accompanists Ross Baird on guitar and Charlotte Paterson on double bass.

Paul Paterson is an Edinburgh based guitarist who is widely recognized as one of Scotland’s leading gypsy jazz players.
He has played professionally since the age of 18 and specializes in the authentic Django Reinhardt sound of the 1930s.

Pianist Brian Kellock and trumpeter Colin Steele have been long-time collaborators; together there’s almost nothing they can’t play! For this special gig, they’ll be joined by Roy Percy on double bass and Max Popp on drums as they pay homage to Duke Ellington and Louis Armstrong. They’ll be playing some of their best-known tunes like ‘It Don’t Mean a Thing,’ ‘Mood Indigo,’ and ‘Solitude’. Favourite tunes joyfully reimagined, faithful to the originals but played with imagination, creativity, freshness, and flair. Top-class swinging jazz musicians at the top of their game.

FOUR trumpets, FOUR trombones, FIVE saxes and FOUR rhythm! It’s a variable line-up of top-class pro players, who travel in from around Scotland to participate in this outstanding gig. Nowhere else can you hear this standard of regular Big Band playing. Led by saxophonist Keith Edwards, the personnel changes weekly, as does their selection of fantastic arrangements.

Franco-American pianist Tom Sochas and his trio play The Jazz Bar premiering new Mountain-inspired music from their latest album Facing North, composed in the arctic circle on a small island off the coast of Norway. The show will feature Tom on piano and electronic textures, Theo Malka-Wishart on double bass and Filippo Galli on drums. Expect a blend of delicate contrapuntal melodies, spacious Scandi soundscapes as well as harder hitting grooves. Not to be missed!

Bring your little ones to our Interactive Live Jazz Show! This isn’t just music—it’s a full-blown adventure into the world of early jazz, designed especially for younger audiences. It takes them right into the heart of the band, experiencing the magic of live acoustic instruments through music, dancing, fun, and play!

And parents, we’ve got you covered too! With our fully licensed bar, you can sip on your favourite cocktail, enjoy a cold beer, or unwind with a glass of wine while the kids groove to the tunes. We also have an impressive non-alcoholic beer selection.

But that’s not all—there’s a 30-minute disco after the show for anyone still needing to party and burn off even more energy!

The show starts at 3pm and consists of two 30min sets with a break in between. 30min of disco to follow- all finished by 5pm. Please arrive early- doors open at 2.30pm.

The Foo Birds

The Foo Birds are an independent five-piece whose unique musical partnership has been evolving for over a decade. Their music dynamically blends elements of nu-soul, RnB, jazz and pop and is characterised by the powerful voice of Kate Lister, with lyrics exploring the joys and vulnerabilities of being human in an ever-changing world.

Their latest release, Everybody’s Shouting, was produced by Chris Hyson (Jordan Rakei, Frida Touray) and mixed by Alex Killpartrick (Olivia Dean). The EP offers a timely reflection on the chaos of modern life, and the solace we find in connection and creativity. It’s uplifting and soulful – a thoughtful antidote to overwhelming times.

Previous shows include Pizza Express Jazz Club (London), Band on the Wall (Manchester), Peggy’s Skylight (Nottingham) and The Jazz Bar (Edinburgh). Festival appearances include headline slots at Kelburn Garden Party, Fife Jazz Festival & Tinderbox Fest and they have been celebrated on Jazz FM, Worldwide FM & BBC Radio.

Previous releases feature collaborations with Robin Mullarkey (Jacob Collier, Natalie Williams), Harry Fausing Smith (Tom Misch, MRCY), Jonny Murray (Mr Jukes) & Robin Wynn Evans (Sam Brown, Manic Street Preachers).

Mojo is a five piece band hailing from the Trójmiasto (Tri-City) region of Poland, bringing a heady high-energy sound inspired by American influences and spiced up with a contemporary Polish touch. The band is inspired by grooves of the past that lead to the best kinds of wild gigs, creating an intimate connection between band and audience throughout the performance.

Led by American Felipe Schrieberg, Mojo blends together influences of Cajun, soul and rhythm and blues – music that would shake the rafters in barrelhouse piano bars, Memphis clubs and Louisiana’s Fais Dodos – with the mischief often found in traditional Polish folk music. Intense, tight grooves, infectious riffs and the natural chemistry of a band made up of deeply experienced performers results in a potent brew perfect for a late night party.

FOUR trumpets, FOUR trombones, FIVE saxes and FOUR rhythm! It’s a variable line-up of top-class pro players, who travel in from around Scotland to participate in this outstanding gig. Nowhere else can you hear this standard of regular Big Band playing. Led by saxophonist Keith Edwards, the personnel changes weekly, as does their selection of fantastic arrangements.

An Intimate and listening to start our Friday Jazz offerings, this week featuring Prime Trio.

Featuring Kevin Mackenzie guitar, Peter Johnstone organ, and Doug Hough – Drums.

PRIME are a collaborative trio embracing the. classic  organ trio sound. The trios music features  new  original  compositions plus  classic standards and contemporary jazz repertoire.

Their 2021 self titled recording received rave reviews and this concert will feature new compositions from the follow up album.

While Johnstone is a highly accomplished pianist, his ability as an organist on this recording is quite stunning, sharing the lead alongside MacKenzie’s superb guitar playing. Doug Hough’s accompaniment is exemplary throughout.

Cumbiatones is a Psychedelic Cumbia band based in Edinburgh (Scotland). Formed in 2021, Cumbiatones combines tradicional Cumbia rythms from Peru, Argentina and Colombia with rock music psychedelic sounds and energetic riffs that will get the crowd dancing non stop.🕺💃
