Released during lock-down, effortlessly blurring the lines between jazz and folk, “Weathering The Storm” is an achingly beautiful and intimate album that is so shot through with pathos and pain, it could melt the hardest of hearts. Having cut their teeth working with an array of stars including Jools Holland, Melody Gardot and Robbie Williams, Jo Harrop and Jamie McCredie took a leap of faith and started working together on what would eventually become their debut album. The Guardian dubbed it ‘a little gem of an album: simple, modest and perfect,’ whilst BBC 6 Music’s Iggy Pop fell in love with her voice, calling her “a very fine jazz singer.”

Lucas Ferrari is one of the top classic jazz musicians who have emerged in the Argentine jazz scene in the 21st century. Born in Buenos Aires, he began his piano studies in 2003, and by 2008 he was already in professional activity in various jazz and blues clubs in his hometown. In the last decade, he visited some of the cities with the most jazz activity in the world, such as Montreal, New Orleans, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Paris, where he was able to interact directly with some of the most important musicians of the genre.

Grace & The Flat Boys are an Edinburgh based 5-piece playing their own fusion of Jazz, RnB, Rock and Soul. They’ve been gigging since late 2018 and released their debut EP ‘Wheels’ in September 2021. So far 2022 has seen them release a new single and play some of their biggest shows yet, including performances at Camp Bestival, The Hug & Pint’s Endless Summer Festival and Sneaky Pete’s Central Belters showcase. Lolita Jackson, a Manhattan-based vocalist, has been a musician since childhood. Originally a classically trained bass clarinetist and tenor saxophone player starting in elementary school, she permanently switched to vocals during her time at the University of Pennsylvania as a member of one of the premier collegiate a capella jazz ensembles in America, Counterparts. In addition, Lolita was also a member of gospel and rock groups during this time and developed her signature style of incorporating vocalese and scatting as part of the instrumental ensemble.

Each week a top-drawer piano trio, led by bassist Ed Kelly, is joined by a special guest spot. Saxophonists, guitarists, trumpeters and singers showcase their talents in a broad range of jazz styles. From swing, blues, bossa, trad and modern, this is a variable early-evening session of intimate and enjoyable jazz.

Held on the last Sunday of each month, award-winning vocalist Ali Affleck brings a fiery New Orleans passion with heavy doses of old-time pop and deep digs into the rarest of trad and blues. Hot roots, blues, prohibition-era jazz, and cheeky Creole tunes from the finest swing bands around. Each month sees both new friends and old; special guests and long-time favourites of the swing dance community – the perfect end to the month!

Neo-soul, trip-hop grooves and re-edited classics are delivered to your ears, feet and hips by this vocals-fronted band with a rhythm section to die for. Guaranteed to keep your feet moving and your jaw dropped. Featuring hot vocals from Fiona Lynch, funky guitar from Aki Remally, and dope grooves from Jim Drummond (drums) and Dougie Coulter (bass).

FOUR trumpets, FOUR trombones, FIVE saxes and FOUR rhythm! It’s a variable line-up of top-class pro players, who travel in from around Scotland to participate in this outstanding gig. Nowhere else can you hear this standard of regular Big Band playing. Led by saxophonist Keith Edwards, the personnel changes weekly, as does their selection of fantastic arrangements.
