The Speakeasy Sessions – March 29th

ALI AFFLECK’S SUNDAY SPEAKEASY SESSIONS

On the last Sunday of the month, vocalist Ali Affleck and her troupe of New-Orleans trad afficionados host the Sunday Speakeasy Sessions. It’s a night of wailing brassy horns and rioutous swing dancing, featuring a number of different bands from Ali Affleck and co-conspirator Dick Lee. Ali’s easily accessible, fun style of jazz draws in music fans of all tastes, offering not only extremely high quality music, but a great time for anyone involved and excellent gateway-jazz.

Ali is involved in a huge number of projects, with various bands, international guests, and networking for issues such as women’s representation in jazz and musician inter-connectivity and co-operation. She has also assisted The Jazz Bar on a number of occasions, most recently in the organisation of the hugely successful ‘Krewe of Muses’ International Women’s Day event which saw 17+ female musicians (and a handful of men) perform in a massive showcase event.

Now Ali is assisting us in the creation of a new 20+ track digital album compiled from music donated by bands during our closure, in a similar fashion to our 10-year Anniversary CD, as 2020 is our 15th year. This new album will be a digital download, available soon from our website store. A huge thank you to Ali for this and to all the donating musicians!

To support Ali, check out her music on Bandcamp or her website, or stream via Soundcloud.

DONATE

You can continue to support us and the professional musicians who are struggling right now, by donating what you might usually spend on an entry fee or a drink, or any other amount that you wish. Professional musicians and all hospitality/event staff are facing an incredibly difficult time, having seen months of steady work disappear over-night. Any donations would be extremely appreciated to help us to continue to pay our staff through our closure and support our local event staff community in any way that we can.
