The Cafolla Heist are a Hammond Organ Quartet from the Mind of Marco Cafolla (Mama Terra & Federation of the Disco Pimp).
The trio explores repertoire from the likes of Jackie Mclean, Carla Bley, Alice Coltrane and Ornette Coleman.
Their sound draws upon the jazz post-bop tradition, allowing for free improvisation and explosive interplay. Formed in 2025, the band’s debut performance was to a sold-out audience at the iconic Jazz Bar in Edinburgh as part of the Jazz and Blues Festival.

Samba Sene and Diwan

Based in Edinburgh, UK, with roots in Senegal, Africa, and around the world.
The band is an eclectic mix of musicians, led by charismatic Dakar-born singer Samba Sene. The music is an exuberant fusion of funky mbalax/Afrobeat grooves, with undercurrents of ska, rock and Senegalese soul.

The summer Fringe madness is over and Heart of Africa (Live) is BACK, in its usual Sunday afternoon time slot.
Curated and hosted by Senegal’s Samba Sene, this month’s special guests are the brilliant Gnawa Trance Fusion (led by Moroccan-born Omar Afif, with singer & guembri, Andy Cooke on balandina, Steve Kettley on sax, Simona Simeone on backing vocals).
The band blends traditional Nord African Gnawa rhythms with elements of trance, jazz, blues and funk. Rooted in spiritual and ceremonial music, their sound is deep, powerful and designed to move both body and soul.
We also have the fabulous JULES SOW back, with his kora, and AFRICA MELODY – Samba Sene with Senegalese drummers and traditional songs.
Start time: 5.20 (till 6.45pm)

FOUR trumpets, FOUR trombones, FIVE saxes and FOUR rhythm! It’s a variable line-up of top-class pro players, who travel in from around Scotland to participate in this outstanding gig. Nowhere else can you hear this standard of regular Big Band playing. Led by saxophonist Keith Edwards, the personnel changes weekly, as does their selection of fantastic arrangements.

The Jazz Bar’s all-inclusive jam session is back! On the first Thursday of every month, the Jazz Bar’s team of regular house musicians are here to welcome and guide any and all musicians, genres and abilities into the Edinburgh music scene for an evening of funky tunes and the opportunity to meet artists of all shapes and sizes!
At the end of the jam, the house band will play a set to close off the night.

Marianne McGregor
Marianne McGregor is a powerful voice in UK Jazz, awarded ‘Best Vocalist’ in the Scottish Jazz Awards 2021 & 2023, Marianne has been delighting sell-out audiences with her impressive vocals and scat-singing. Using her voice like an instrument, Marianne sings with tone and sincerity that can both break your heart and mend it in one performance.
Her latest original album ‘Make Believe’ was released in June 2025 supported by Creative Scotland.
